Project Title: An Approach to Building Effective Agricultural Advisor-Client Relationships
Project Description:
The farmer-advisor relationship has an influential role on family farm decision making. Good relationships lead to improved knowledge transfer and an increase in the uptake of new technologies on farms. This study examined the relationship farmer-clients have with their Teagasc advisor and focused particularly on the importance of trust, and how such relationships can be developed and maintained long-term. Key findings show that to gain farmer trust in an advisory relationship, farmers must trust both the source of information and the individual advisor delivering the information. Trust is very much built on an advisors personal, expertise and professionalism attributes.
