Explore best management and forest creation options

Explore best management and forest creation options

Forest owners, farmers, landowners and anyone with an interest in forestry are invited to attend a unique series of six Teagasc Forest Management Walks taking place across Ireland from June 15 -18, 2026.

Organised by the Teagasc Forestry Development Department in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, these outdoor events will provide practical insights into key forestry management approaches to help optimise the potential of forests.

Each walk focuses on a specific forestry management theme, including reforestation, continuous cover forestry, native woodland management, agroforestry, mixed forests and recreation.

Hosted in forests and woodlands around the country, participants will have the opportunity to see these systems in practice, learn from forestry specialists and discuss management options directly with experts and fellow forest owners.

The walks are designed not only for existing forest owners but also for farmers and landowners who may be considering forest creation for the first time. Attendees will gain valuable information on the opportunities available through good practice, current supports and grants, and how good forest planning and management can deliver economic, environmental and social benefits.

Whether your interest lies in timber production, biodiversity enhancement, farm diversification, climate action or creating recreational spaces, these walks offer an excellent opportunity to learn, ask questions and explore the many possibilities that forestry can provide.

There is no need to register for these forest walks. Just take note of date time and meeting point and turn up prepared for the outdoors
