Identifying Carbon Sequestration Potential in Agricultural Systems

Biography

Prosper Kpiebaya is a researcher focused on tackling some of agriculture’s most urgent environmental challenges: soil erosion, carbon dynamics, and climate change. His work explores the potential for carbon sequestration in agricultural systems, using spatial analysis, digital soil mapping, and stable isotope techniques to better understand how carbon moves through and is stored in agricultural landscapes.

Prosper’s research aims to inform climate-smart farming practices and support sustainable land use, with a particular focus on identifying areas where soil carbon can be retained or enhanced. By combining landscape analysis with tools like GIS, remote sensing, and isotope tracing, he is developing practical, science-based strategies to help mitigate climate impacts while improving soil health. He is currently involved in a project titled “Identifying Carbon Sequestration Potential in Agricultural Systems,” where he applies his growing expertise in soil conservation, spatial modelling, and agro-environmental data analysis. Prosper is experienced in GIS/Remote sensing, soil sampling, and laboratory techniques, isotope analysis, and he is building skills in carbon modelling and environmental monitoring.

Prosper enjoys sharing knowledge about sustainable agriculture and finds inspiration in working at the intersection of science and real-world impact.
