Sinéad Maloney

Project Title: Development and application of transformative genetic, dietary and manure management technologies to reduce methane emissions from Irish pasture-based beef production systems. 

Overview: Sinéad Maloney grew up on a small suckler farm in Oughterard, Co. Galway. She did her Bachelor’s Degree in University of Galway and graduated in 2024 with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s of Science In Plant and AgriBiosciences and Microbiology. She started her Walsh Scholarship in Teagasc Grange in September 2024 on the DAFM funded Methane Abatement in Grazing Systems (MAGS) project with a focus on developing and evaluating genetic and dietary strategies to reduce methane emissions from beef cattle reared and finished in a pasture based production system.
