Project Title: Development of the AgNav digital platform to conduct environmental assessments of Pig farming systems.

Biography: Babra is researching the environmental impacts of pig production systems in Ireland using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Her work looks at how feed, housing, manure management, and energy use on pig farms contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental pressures. The goal of her research is to improve how the environmental performance of pig farming is measured and to help identify practical ways the sector can reduce its climate and environmental footprint.
Babra is also involved in the development of AgNav, a national sustainability assessment platform developed in collaboration with Teagasc, Bord Bia, and the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF). Through this work, she is helping to translate research into tools that can support farmers, industry, and policymakers in making informed decisions about environmental sustainability.
She has experience in environmental modelling, Life Cycle Assessment, livestock systems analysis, and sustainability data analysis, and has worked across East and Southern Africa on climate-smart agriculture, food security, and gender-inclusive development initiatives.
Originally from Uganda, Babra has a strong interest in sustainable agriculture, climate resilience and food systems transformation. Outside of work, she enjoys learning about different cultures, watching movies and taking meditative walks.
