Project Title: Development of a Digital Platform to Conduct Environmental Assessments of Farming Systems.

Kamyar Golbaten MofradOverview: Kamyar is working on the environmental assessment of Irish farming systems using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), focusing on aligning with the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF). His PhD research aims to establish a comprehensive framework for environmental indicators and develop a platform, AgNav, which conducts a robust assessment of the environmental performance of farming systems in Ireland. AgNav is a collaboration between Teagasc, Bord Bia and the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF). Data integration is at the core of this project, emphasizing quick access to databases, which improves the usability of the platform and data quality. Kamyar is contributing to developing the new methodology within AgNav and supporting the expansion of environmental indicators reported through the tool.

Kamyar is from Iran and holds a BSc in Agricultural Machinery Mechanics and an MSc in Energy Conversion. He also has an interest in renewable energy systems modelling and optimization. His research background in LCA modelling of energy systems and sustainability provided him with the current project in agriculture, where he applies similar analytical methods to improve the environmental performance of farming systems.
